Latino Americans, which recently premiered on WGBY, is a documentary video of the gradual construction of a new American identify that connects and empowers millions of people today. The series chronicles Latinos in the U.S. from the 1500s to present day. It is the story of people, politics, and culture, intersecting with much that is central to the history of the United States while also going to places where standard U.S. histories do not tend to tread.
The WGBY Video Lending Library website is currently off line, but you can borrow this 2-DVD set by contacting librarian Bernie Michaels at firstname.lastname@example.org and asking for “Latino Americans, I.D. 2387.” Our librarian is also happy to assist you in another request or help search for another video or DVD.

As many of us well know, music and art are important to a well-rounded education. Through their philanthropic giving program, Target helps schools support art and culture programs. Art and Culture in Schools Grants are awarded for $2,000. Grant applications are accepted between March 1 and April 30 each year, with grant notifications delivered in September.
We thought this was an excellent opportunity for any local school interested in expanding their Arts program. To start an application, click here.
Note: WGBY is not affiliated with Target or its grant-making program. If you have questions about this initiative, please contact Target directly.
